Since the Chandrababu Naidu-led coalition government assumed office in Andhra Pradesh, a disturbing pattern of atrocities against women has continued across the State. Under the implementation of what is being described as the “Red Book Constitution,” TDP and Jana Sena leaders have acted with unchecked impunity, targeting women and girls on an almost daily basis. Instead of enforcing the law, the police have remained passive and, in many cases, have been seen protecting the accused, allowing such incidents to continue unabated. The recent incidents in Guntur and Badvel illustrate the extent to which this culture of impunity has grown. In Guntur’s Krishnababu Colony, Mallela Murthy, a close aide of TDP MLA Galla Madhavi, along with his family members, brutally assaulted a woman and stripped her in public over a dispute related to the installation of a motor on a pipeline. In Badvel, Tirumalesh, a key follower of Kadapa TDP MLA Madhavi Reddy, allegedly attempted to grab the house of an elderly couple and tore the blouse of the elderly woman when she resisted. According to the narrative, these incidents are only a few among numerous cases reported during the 25 months of the Chandrababu Naidu coalition government’s tenure.
Woman stripped, beaten until she urinated in Public (July 15, 2026)
In a shocking incident that drew widespread outrage, TDP leaders in Guntur stripped a woman in public and brutally assaulted her in a manner that shocked civil society. She was allegedly beaten for nearly 10 minutes, leaving her unable to control herself and forcing her to urinate in public. The incident occurred on July 15 in Krishnababu Colony under the Nagarampalem Police Station limits and came to light on July 17.
The victim had been living with her family in Krishnababu Colony and had installed a motor to draw drinking water from a pipeline nearly 15 years ago. Following the recent construction of a cement road in the locality, TDP leader Mallela Venkata Ramana Murthy lodged a complaint with the municipal authorities demanding that the motor be removed. When the woman met him and explained that the motor was not causing any inconvenience despite the road construction, he insisted that it had to be removed. An argument broke out between them on July 15, after which the woman and her family approached Nagarampalem Police Station to lodge a complaint. However, the police reportedly told them they were leaving for bandobast duty and asked them to return later.
After learning that the woman had approached the police, Mallela Murthy, his transgender relative Madhavi, and several members of his family allegedly stormed the woman’s residence and launched a violent assault. They knocked her to the ground, kicked and beat her, and attacked her family members when they tried to intervene. They then stripped her in the middle of the road, abused her in filthy language, and continued assaulting her for nearly ten minutes, leaving her unable to control her bladder. The attackers fled only after local residents gathered at the spot. With the help of neighbours, the victim later returned to Nagarampalem Police Station and lodged a formal complaint.
Elderly woman’s blouse torn during Land grab attempt in Badvel (July 19, 2026)
An elderly woman was assaulted and had her blouse torn during an alleged attempt to seize her house in Badvel of YSR Kadapa district. The incident occurred on July 18 in Gowrishankar Nagar, where an elderly couple has been residing in a house built on Plot No. 74 in Survey No. 1021 for the past 16 years.
According to the family, around three months earlier, a group of individuals from Vasanthapeta in Proddatur had arrived claiming ownership of the property and demanded that the couple vacate the house. Local women intervened at that time, forcing the group to leave. On July 18, the group allegedly returned with the support of Bojja Tirumalesh, District President of the Telugu Nadu Students Federation (TNSF) and a close associate of Kadapa TDP MLA Madhavi Reddy. Accompanied by several supporters carrying hammers and crowbars, they allegedly demolished the compound wall surrounding the house and created chaos for nearly half an hour.
When the elderly woman attempted to stop them, she was pushed to the ground, her blouse was torn, and she was allegedly assaulted. The attackers left the spot only after local women rushed to the scene and strongly protested against the incident.
TDP worker tied woman to a tree in CM’s Constituency (June 16, 2025)
A woman was allegedly tied to a tree and subjected to public humiliation by a TDP worker in Narayanapuram village of Kuppam mandal, the Chief Minister’s own constituency. The victim, Sirisha, whose husband Thimmarayappa had borrowed ₹80,000 from TDP worker Munikannappa two years earlier, had been repaying the loan in instalments after her husband left the village due to mounting debts. Unable to clear the entire amount, she continued working as a daily wage labourer to support her two children.
According to the account, Munikannappa intercepted Sirisha on the road, abused her in filthy language, demanded immediate repayment, and threatened to kill her if the dues were not cleared. In full public view, he allegedly dragged her through the street, tied her to a neem tree with a rope, and subjected her to physical abuse. After receiving information about the incident, Kuppam police reached the spot, rescued Sirisha, detained Munikannappa, and registered a case under Sections 341, 323, 324, 506 and 34 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Kiran royal exploited woman financially and sexually, then forced settlement (February 10, 2025)
Serious allegations against Jana Sena leader Kiran Royal came to light through a video released by the victim on February 8, 2025. The woman, a resident of Chiguruwada in Tirupati Rural, stated that Kiran Royal developed a close relationship with her and repeatedly sought money from her over a period of time.
According to the victim, she borrowed heavily and handed over ₹1.20 crore along with 25 sovereigns of gold jewellery to Kiran Royal. When she later demanded that the money be returned, she said he began threatening her. After releasing the video, the woman attempted suicide. The matter was subsequently settled through a compromise brokered by coalition leaders between the victim and Kiran Royal.
Adimulam Sexual harassment controversy (September 5, 2024)
A controversy erupted after Satyavedu MLA Koneti Adimulam was accused by a woman party leader of sexual harassment and intimidation. The woman stated that Adimulam established a relationship with her in KVB Puram Mandal, later deceived her, and subjected her to continuous threats.
The allegations became public after the victim chose to speak openly about her experience, bringing the issue into the public domain. The episode drew widespread attention and exposed the allegations of misconduct against the MLA.
Janasena MLA Arava Sreedhar impregnated woman employee five times
Veena, a Panchayat Raj employee, released multiple videos alleging that Railway Koduru MLA Arava Sreedhar repeatedly threatened and exploited her over a period of nearly one and a half years. She stated that he made her pregnant five times and compelled her to undergo repeated abortions.
According to the victim, no action was taken against the MLA despite her allegations. Instead, a criminal case was registered against her, and when she staged a protest on the road seeking justice, supporters of Arava Sreedhar allegedly attacked and assaulted her.
Minister Sandhya Rani’s PA Accused of Harassing Woman Government Employee (December 23, 2025)
A woman government employee from Salur lodged a complaint with the Parvathipuram Manyam District Superintendent of Police on November 27, 2025, against Satish, Personal Assistant to Minister Gummadi Sandhya Rani. She stated that Satish promised to secure her late husband’s government job for her, collected ₹15 lakh from her in multiple instalments, sexually exploited her, and pressured her to provide sexual favours to influential persons.
Following the complaint, the woman gave an interview to Sakshi Media, detailing her allegations. According to the narrative, she and Devi Prasad, a Salur municipal employee who supported her, were subsequently taken to Parvathipuram Rural Police Station, where they were subjected to custodial harassment and torture instead of receiving protection.
TDP Leaders tore Woman’s clothes and dragged her by the hair in Home Minister Anitha’s Constituency (June 31, 2024)
In Kotavuratla of Payakaraopeta Assembly Constituency in Anakapalli district, represented by Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha, TDP leaders allegedly assaulted two women during a land dispute. The incident occurred after Madam Varalakshmi, who had constructed a house along the main road near Marrichettu on the outskirts of Kotavuratla, resisted attempts to encroach upon the land in front of her house.
TDP leaders launched a violent attack on Varalakshmi and her co-sister Lakshmi, tore their clothes, dragged them by the hair, physically assaulted them, and subjected them to sexual harassment through inappropriate touching. The incident was cited as another example of violence against women in the constituency despite it being represented by the State’s Home Minister.
