Bhopal, Oct 28 Madhya Pradesh assembly speaker Narendra Singh Tomar said on Wednesday that the implementation of the e-Assembly system will bring efficiency and transparency to the functioning of the House and will enable comprehensive solutions to public problems.
Tomar inaugurated a training programme for MLAs under the National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA).
“Earlier, when MLAs had to submit written questions, the average number of questions in a single assembly session was 700. After the online system was implemented, the number of questions in a single session has reached 4,000. These 4,000 questions represent the voice of each member’s constituency,” he said.
He said the e-Assembly will bring efficiency and transparency to the assembly’s work, and the public’s problems will be addressed comprehensively.
Public Accounts Committee Chairman Bhanwar Singh Shekhawat, Estimates Committee Chairman Ajay Vishnoi, Assembly Principal Secretary Arvind Sharma and MLAs were present.
Tomar said he had been working on the digitisation process for a long time and is pleased that it is now in its final stages.
“We all know that if we want to move forward, we must compete with the times. Whenever a new technology is introduced, one side opposes it, while another side uses it as a weapon to win the competition against others,” the assembly speaker said.
He said when Prime Minister Narendra Modi set the goals of Digital India, Make in India, and Skill India, these were initially considered mere slogans, but today the entire world is praising the country for its position in the digital revolution.
“Using technology can save time and demonstrate quality. Using technology, we can keep our lives open with complete transparency and present our work to the voters who elected us to this House,” Tomar added.
Citing the Digital India initiative, he said funds under schemes like Kisan Samman Nidhi or the Ladli Behen Yojana are now transferred directly to the beneficiary’s account with the press of a button, without any middlemen.
Tomar also shared an experience regarding the process of the legislative assembly going paperless.
“When the idea of ‘Digital India’ was being discussed, Prime Minister Modi believed that the Lok Sabha, Rajya Sabha, and all the legislative assemblies should be available in one place. NeVA scheme was created in accordance with this intention,” he said.
Tomar recalled that as the Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, he took charge of its implementation and launched it.
“I am happy that as a result of the participation of all members, this project is taking shape today. Now, the Madhya Pradesh legislative assembly will also be visible on the National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA),” he added.
PAC chief Shekhawat highlighted the use of NeVA and offered suggestions for improving and expanding its reach, while Vishnoi explained the content and importance of NeVA.
