YSR Congress Party President and former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on Wednesday asserted that the people of Andhra Pradesh have clearly witnessed the difference between the five years of YSRCP governance and the past two years under the Chandrababu Naidu-led government, stating that the present administration has become synonymous with broken promises, betrayal, and destructive governance. Addressing leaders and key party functionaries from the Rampachodavaram Assembly constituency at the YSRCP central office in Tadepalli, Jagan urged party workers to stand firmly with the people and assured them that “Jagan 2.0” would place greater importance on grassroots cadre while continuing the fight for the poor and the oppressed.
People are Comparing Two Models of Governance
YS Jagan said the political situation in the State has reached a stage where every household is discussing the difference between the YSRCP government’s five-year administration and the present government’s two-year tenure. He said people are openly comparing the two models of governance and recognizing the transformational changes brought about during the YSRCP regime.
He stated that the YSRCP government delivered unprecedented governance and remained committed to every promise made to the people. Unlike earlier governments that treated election manifestos as documents to be discarded after elections, the YSRCP considered its manifesto a sacred commitment and implemented 99 percent of its promises, making it the only political party in the country to achieve such a record.
Manifesto Was Treated as a Sacred Commitment
YS Jagan said the YSRCP government introduced a governance model in which welfare schemes were implemented according to a publicly announced calendar, ensuring predictability and accountability. Every scheme was delivered on schedule, strengthening public confidence in government.
He added that the administration introduced historic reforms in governance, education, healthcare, and agriculture while eliminating corruption and middlemen from public service delivery.
Historic Reforms in Education, Healthcare and Tribal Welfare
Highlighting his government’s achievements, YS Jagan said government schools and hospitals underwent unprecedented transformation under YSRCP rule, while farmers received strong institutional support through welfare and agricultural initiatives.
He emphasized that special attention was given to the development of tribal regions. More than 3.22 lakh Forest Rights (ROFR) land titles were distributed to tribal families, ensuring land ownership and security.
He noted that while the State witnessed the establishment of 17 Government Medical Colleges, three of them were strategically located in tribal and agency regions—Paderu, Parvathipuram, and Narsipatnam—to improve healthcare access for tribal communities. The government also established a Tribal Engineering College at Kurupam and a Tribal University at Salur, reflecting its commitment to empowering tribal youth through education.
YS Jagan further said that five multi-specialty hospitals were initiated within ITDA regions and that development works progressed rapidly because the government was driven by a genuine commitment to improve people’s lives.
“Our aspiration was simple—to bring meaningful change into people’s lives so that even after I am gone, every household would remember our service,” he remarked.
Two Years of Broken Promises Under Chandrababu Government
Contrasting his administration with the present government, YS Jagan alleged that the Chandrababu Naidu-led coalition had won the election by making promises far exceeding those made by YSRCP, distributing signed guarantee bonds to every household and assuring specific financial benefits.
However, he said that after assuming office, those promises remained unfulfilled, leaving every family disappointed.
According to YS Jagan, under the promised “Aadabidda Nidhi” scheme, every eligible woman is now owed Rs. 36,000 for two years. Unemployed youth are yet to receive Rs. 72,000 promised as unemployment assistance over the same period. Women above fifty years of age are owed Rs. 96,000, while beneficiaries of Amma Vodi have either been excluded or received reduced assistance.
He further alleged that under Annadata Sukhibhava, farmers were promised Rs. 40,000 over two years but received only Rs. 14,000, leaving Rs. 26,000 unpaid. Similarly, despite promises of six free LPG cylinders, many families have either received only two cylinders or none at all.
YS Jagan said these broken promises have become the subject of discussion in every household across Andhra Pradesh, with people questioning why they voted for the present government and acknowledging the welfare measures they lost after the YSRCP left office.
“Darkness Is Temporary; Light Will Return”
Expressing confidence in the future, YS Jagan said the present government has already completed two years in office and asserted that its tenure of “destructive governance” is nearing its end.
He alleged that those who question the government are being targeted with false cases and intimidation under what he described as a “Red Book Constitution,” but added that such repression cannot last forever.
“Darkness exists only for a while. Dawn is inevitable. Just as the sun must rise after the night, this unjust rule too will come to an end,” he said.
YS Jagan indicated that his next statewide padayatra would begin in due course and expressed confidence that the people’s verdict would bring political change.
Call to Party Cadre: Stand with the Poor and the People
Calling upon party leaders and workers to prepare for the coming years, YS Jagan said they carry the responsibility of taking the party’s message to every household, standing firmly with victims of injustice, and becoming the voice of the people.
He urged party functionaries never to abandon the poor and to remain their strongest support in times of distress, assuring them that he would stand firmly behind every committed worker.
Promising greater recognition for grassroots cadre in the future, YS Jagan said “YS Jagan 2.0” would ensure that party workers receive the respect and importance they deserve and that welfare programmes would continue to reach the people through their hands.
Concluding his address, he appealed to every leader and activist to remain united, committed, and people-centric, stating that the responsibility of rebuilding the State rests on their shoulders and that the YSR Congress Party would continue its struggle alongside the people until justice prevails.
