Gurugram, Oct 25 A 21-year-old bike rider died near the Bandhwari toll plaza on Sunday morning after he lost control of the vehicle and struck a divider, police said.

According to the police, the deceased was identified as Rajiv alias Bittu, a resident of Uttam Nagar on Ghazipur Road in Faridabad.

Rajiv set out for a bike ride with his friends around 6 am on Sunday. Each friend was riding a separate motorcycle. Due to his high speed, Rajiv, who was riding a Pulsar, moved well ahead of his friends.

The police said that while descending from the flyover near the Bandhwari toll plaza, his motorcycle suddenly went out of control and skidded.

As the bike fell, Rajiv’s head struck the road divider. He sustained severe head injuries in the accident. Friends who were following behind immediately stepped in to help and rushed him to a nearby private hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment, they added.

A senior police officer said the accident appears, prima facie, to have been caused by the motorcycle skidding while travelling at high speed.

“We are currently reviewing footage from nearby CCTV cameras to determine the exact cause of the accident. We handed over the body to kin after the postmortem”, he added.
