Morigaon, Oct 22 A 48-year-old widow was allegedly killed by a man with whom she had an illicit relationship and his two brothers in Assam’s Morigaon district, police said on Thursday.
The woman, a mother of six, was allegedly involved in a relationship with one Bubul Boro in Baghutha village under Bhuragaon police station.
The villagers held a meeting on Sunday and decided that the duo should get married.
Accordingly, the women of the area arranged the wedding and ensured that Boro took her to his home on Monday.
Boro and his two brothers allegedly tortured her, and she reportedly died that same night. They kept her body inside the house for two days in an attempt to conceal the crime.
Police said the matter came to light after some neighbours complained of a foul smell.
Police rushed to the spot, recovered the body and sent it for postmortem.
The three brothers were arrested, and further investigation was underway, the official said.
