Imphal, Oct 22 Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla on Thursday reviewed the progress of the ongoing India-Myanmar border fencing work in the state during a meeting at the Lok Bhavan here, officials said.

Manipur shares 398 km of the international border with Myanmar, most of which is porous, they said.

The high-level meeting was attended by senior officials, including the chief secretary, DGP and representatives of the Border Roads Task Force (BRTF) and the Assam Rifles.

Detailed presentations were made on the progress of the border fencing work in the northeastern state, an official release stated.

Manipur Home Minister Govindas Konthoujam had last month said around 55-km border area had been fenced.

The meeting comes amid violence and arson allegedly by unidentified militants in a few border villages in Kamjong district.

On September 24, four Tangkhul Naga civilians were allegedly shot dead near Pilong village in the district, officials had said. Several Naga organisations have alleged the involvement of Kuki militants from Myanmar.
