Gurugram, Oct 30 Faridabad Police arrested two brothers who had been absconding for 12 years in connection with a murder case, with police saying they changed their locations and occupations to evade arrest.

The accused, Sandeep and Vijay Kumar, were named in the 2014 murder of a man identified as Sumit following a dispute in Sidhaula village, police said. They were declared absconders after repeatedly failing to appear before the court.

Teams of the Crime Branch (Central) and Tigaon police station arrested the brothers from separate locations following raids in Mewat, Palwal, Bhiwadi and Gurugram, police said.

According to police spokesperson Yashpal, the Crime Branch (Central) team arrested Sandeep from the court complex in Sector 12. He had been living in Khori village, where he worked as a construction labourer and also drove an auto-rickshaw, he said.

Vijay Kumar was arrested by a Tigaon police team from Harphali village in Palwal district, where he was working as a mason, Yashpal said.

The brothers had changed their identities and occupations and moved between locations to avoid arrest, police said.

They were produced before a court on Friday and remanded in judicial custody, they added.
