Madurai (Tamil Nadu), Oct 30 Vice President C P Radhakrishnan on Friday asserted that there is always an opportunity for a Tamil to become Prime Minister in the future, and asserted that India has produced Prime Ministers from different geographies.
He emphasised that in a democracy, every citizen has the potential to lead and noted that with leaders from various states currently holding the highest offices, there is certainly an opportunity for someone from Tamil Nadu to serve as the Prime Minister in the future.
He was responding to a specific question from reporters during his visit to Madurai.
On his visit to the renowned Meenakshi Sundareshwar Temple here, the Vice President said he had offered prayers for the well-being and prosperity of the people of Madurai, Tamil Nadu, and the entire nation.
He asserted that India will become a global superpower.
The Vice President was accompanied by Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar during the visit to the Meenakshi Amman Temple.
