Hyderabad, Oct 28 Telangana DGP C V Anand on Wednesday launched a series of digital initiatives aimed at modernising policing through technology.

The initiatives comprise a Citizen Feedback Centre, Bharosa Software, a CID website, a Jail Release Monitoring System, a Mobile Face Search (FRS) app and five volumes of standard operating procedures (SOPs), a press release said.

The initiatives are aimed at enhancing transparency, accountability and efficiency in police services, strengthening public trust, and improving service delivery and investigative outcomes through better technological tools and standardised procedures, the release said.

The Citizen Feedback Centre has been established to obtain direct feedback from citizens who have recently accessed police services—filing petitions and FIRs, using e-Challan services and undergoing passport verification.

Bharosa Software, a digital case-management platform developed by the Telangana Police’s Women Safety Wing, connects all 35 Bharosa Centres through a single digital case file.

It tracks each survivor’s journey from first contact to closure, covering registration, counselling, medical assistance, legal support and rehabilitation.

The software replaces paper-based registers with live statewide dashboards and provides 23 standard reports on demand, the release said.

The Telangana Police has developed the Jail Release Monitoring System by integrating the National Informatics Centre’s (NIC) e-Prisons platform with the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS) to strengthen coordination between prisons and the police, it said.

The system facilitates automated monitoring of prisoner releases, sends timely SMS alerts to the police stations concerned and relevant officers, and provides statewide dashboards, AI-based analytics and comprehensive prisoner-search facilities.

Automated data synchronisation and crime classification are intended to strengthen investigative support, help identify criminal networks and promote proactive, intelligence-driven policing across the state, the release said.

The Mobile Face Search app, an Android-based application supported by a database of more than 9.8 lakh photographs, delivers facial-matching results in about 15 seconds. It enables rapid field verification and assists in identifying suspects, deceased persons, unidentified bodies and missing persons, the release said.

The DGP also released five volumes of SOPs covering bodily offences, property offences, crimes against women and children, special and local laws, and other offences.

The SOPs are intended to help investigating officers strengthen investigative procedures, improve the quality of investigations and enhance the prospects of securing convictions in criminal cases, the release added.

The initiatives mark a step towards modernising policing in Telangana through technology, it said.
