Lucknow, Oct 24 The re-polling at three booths of the Agra teachers’ constituency for the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council biennial elections will take place on October 26, the state’s chief electoral officer (CEO) said in a statement.
According to the statement, the returning officer of the constituency recommended a re-poll at the following locations — polling station number 20 (Tehsil Campus, Khairagarh, room number one), polling station number 21 (Kshetra Panchayat Office, Saiyan, room number one), and polling station number 26 (Kshetra Panchayat Office, Fatehabad, room number one).
The UP CEO’s office said that the voting at these three polling stations will be held on Monday, October 26, from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer Navdeep Rinwa said that the Election Commission has decided to conduct a re-poll at three polling stations.
The voting that took place at these polling stations on October 23 has been declared void under Section 58A(2)(a) of the Representation of the People Act, 1951.
The instructions to conduct a re-poll come after the Samajwadi Party had alleged irregularities and “booth capturing” during the Legislative Council elections in several districts, including Agra, on Friday and Saturday.
On Saturday, the SP submitted a complaint to the Uttar Pradesh CEO regarding “booth capturing” during the elections.
The counting of votes for the Legislative Council elections will take place on October 27.
