Hyderabad, Oct 27 An Inspector of Police was caught by the ACB here for allegedly demanding Rs 6 lakh bribe and accepting a part payment of Rs 3 lakh from a complainant through a home guard, officials said.
The Inspector of Police, Mirchowk Police Station in the city, demanded and accepted the bribe from the complainant “for closing the case registered against the complainant’s father, avoid coercive action, and provide future support,” the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) said in a release.
The bribe amount was recovered from the home guard, it said, adding that both the accused–Inspector of Police and the home guard– performed their duty “improperly and dishonestly” to obtain undue advantage, the ACB said.
The case is under investigation, the release added.
