Kannur (Keralam), Oct 30 A year-old child died after being hit by a car driven by her father while he was reversing the vehicle in front of their house here on Friday, police said.
The deceased was identified as Hoorin Mahaboobi, daughter of Shafakath and Shamhamzin, residents of Kurva Road in Thayyil.
According to police, the accident occurred around 11 am when the child was playing in front of her house.
Unaware of the child’s presence, her father reversed the car, which hit her and caused serious injuries, police said.
She was rushed to a nearby hospital but succumbed to her injuries around 12.30 pm, they said.
Police have registered a case against the father and launched an investigation.
