Kolkata, Oct 30 A 35-year-old woman from Mizoram was seriously injured when the bike on which she was a pillion rider met with an accident in the city’s EM Bypass area on Friday, a police officer said.
The woman, identified as Lalrinmuani, a resident of South Lungrang in the northeastern state, is being treated at the Trauma Care Unit of the SSKM Hospital, he said, adding that the rider escaped “unhurt”.
“The woman was pillion riding a motorcycle which somehow lost control and skidded off the carriageway, causing severe injuries to her. She was wearing a helmet, but despite that, she was badly injured on the head,” the officer said.
A case was registered at Pragati Maidan Police Station, he said, adding that the rider was detained.
“We are checking the CCTV camera footage from the area to investigate the reason behind the accident,” he said.
