Srinagar, Oct 30 Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has called for a sustained and aggressive crackdown on terror modules and a tightening of counter-infiltration measures in the Union Territory.

Chairing a high-level meeting with deputy commissioners, SSPs and senior officials to review the security scenario in Kashmir division, the lieutenant governor directed officers to closely monitor anti-national elements within the administration and prioritise efforts to combat radicalisation.

The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, Chief Secretary Designate Sajjan Singh Yadav, DGP Nalin Prabhat, and Additional Chief Secretary of the Home Department, Chandraker Bharti, along with other senior police and civil administration officers, including DIGs, DCs, and SSPs, an official spokesman said.

He said the meeting focused on operational preparedness, security strategies, and future action plans to ensure a peaceful environment in Kashmir Division.

The lieutenant governor directed officials to take sustained and aggressive action against terror modules, the spokesman said.

Sinha emphasised tightening counter-infiltration grids and fostering seamless synergy between the District Administration, Jammu Kashmir Police, Army, and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) in executing counter-terror operations.

The lieutenant governor directed the deputy commissioners and SSPs to closely monitor anti-national elements within the administration and prioritise efforts to combat radicalisation.

Sinha also highlighted the need for monthly reviews regarding the attachment of properties belonging to narco-terrorists and their supporting ecosystem.

He insisted that efforts to combat narco-terrorism must continue unabated, alongside relentless crackdowns on drug smugglers and peddlers, to achieve the goal of a drug-free Jammu and Kashmir.

Furthermore, Sinha stressed the importance of resolving public grievances quickly and fostering a strong connection between citizens, police, and the administration.

“Under no circumstances should communal harmony and the law and order situation be allowed to deteriorate. We must institutionalise best practices and implement District Convergence Plans to ensure sustainable peace and development,” he said.

The lieutenant governor also called for the establishment of district-level social media cells to rapidly counter misinformation.

In light of the winter season, he directed the administration to ensure an adequate supply of essential commodities and effective snow clearance mechanisms.
