Ahmedabad, Oct 27 Union Minister J P Nadda on Tuesday said the NDA will return to power under PM Narendra Modi’s leadership in 2029 as well, ruling out Bangladesh and Albania-type scenarios and hailing India’s democratic traditions as he targeted Rahul Gandhi and Congress.

He accused the Congress of undermining democracy by questioning the Election Commission and electoral processes.

Addressing a BJP foot march in Ahmedabad’s Vadaj area, Nadda said the INDIA bloc’s intention to form a government with the help of infiltrators will never be allowed to be fulfilled.

Nadda said elections are won with the support of the people and not through protests or rallies.

“Remember Rahul Baba, in 2029 as well, the government will be formed under Modi ji’s leadership,” the Union Health Minister said.

He asserted that India’s democratic system ensured that people’s voices are heard and respected.

“You are giving the example of Nepal; you are giving the example of Albania. This is India, a country of 140 crore people and the world’s largest democracy. Neither Bangladesh nor Albania happens here,” Nadda added.

Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi also participated in the foot march under the party’s “Save Democracy and Remove Anarchy” campaign against the Congress and Rahul Gandhi.

Nadda accused the Congress and the INDIA bloc of selective targeting of the Election Commission.

“They question the Election Commission when they lose elections, but they claim people’s support when they win,” he added.

Nadda cited the example of a polling booth set up deep inside the Gir forest for a single voter during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, saying ten officials of the Election Commission walked around 10 km to enable a temple priest to cast his vote.

“This is India’s democracy. The Election Commission has a strong legacy and India’s constitutional institutions have earned global recognition,” the senior BJP leader said.

Nadda defended the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, rejecting the Opposition’s allegations that 13 crore voters had been deleted.

According to Nadda, the figure included around three crore voters who were absent from their registered addresses, 6.3 crore who had shifted, one crore duplicate entries, and 2.8 crore deceased voters.

“The SIR exercise will certainly be completed at any cost. India will not be run by infiltrators; it will be run by the youth of India and the voters of India,” he added.

Nadda said the revision of the voter list was conducted after BLOs visited households and Booth Level Agents, including those from the opposition parties, supervised the exercise.

Accusing the Congress of trying to create distrust in Constitutional institutions, he cited the Emergency imposed by then prime minister Indira Gandhi to question the opposition party’s commitment to democracy.

He alleged that the Congress and the INDIA bloc are attempting to form governments with the support of infiltrators, asserting that the country’s future will be decided by its citizens, and not by illegal immigrants.

Nadda said Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls is necessary to identify and remove ineligible voters and illegal ghuspaithiye (infiltrators) registered as voters in India.

This ‘INDI Alliance’ wants to run the country with the support of infiltrators. That is their true intention. The SIR exercise will certainly be completed at any cost, he added.

“This ‘nadan, hathi balak’ (naive and stubborn) should keep in mind that no one will be allowed to form a government with the help of infiltrators, nor will we permit infiltrators to become voters,” he said, referring to opposition leader Rahul Gandhi.

Referring to the Opposition’s allegations of irregularities in electoral rolls, Nadda said Rahul Gandhi had claimed that around one lakh votes in Karnataka’s Mahadevapura constituency were invalid but had not approached the Election Commission with a formal complaint despite being asked to submit the allegations on oath.

He said the Congress resorted to protests with calls for regime change because it was unable to win elections.

“Today, the Congress party has crossed all limits,” Nadda said, criticising Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge over his recent remarks about PM Modi’s late father.

He said the BJP would respond to such comments through electoral victories.

Nadda further alleged that the Congress had repeatedly undermined democratic institutions and pointed to the Emergency, during which, he claimed, around 1.3 lakh people were jailed without trial.

The BJP’s campaign was also held in Rajkot on Tuesday, led by Gujarat in-charge Tarun Chugh and state president Jagdish Vishwakarma.

According to a statement issued by the Gujarat BJP’s media department, the foot march began at the statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel near Bahumali Bhavan. Union Minister Nimuben Bambhaniya, senior BJP leader Parshottam Rupala, state ministers, and other party leaders and workers participated.

Addressing the gathering, Chugh accused Rahul Gandhi and the INDIA bloc of attempting to weaken democratic institutions and pressure the judiciary.

He said BJP workers had taken to the streets during the Emergency to defend democracy and would continue to oppose attempts to undermine the Constitutional framework.

The BJP said the campaign is aimed at countering what it described as “misleading propaganda” by the Congress against Constitutional institutions and the Election Commission.
