Kolkata, Oct 30 A day after TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee warned that no police officer would be spared for “implicating its workers in false cases” if the party comes to power, West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari on Friday claimed that the parliamentarian was making incoherent statements owing to “sodium-potassium imbalance”.
Maintaining that one of Banerjee’s aides arrested by the police has spilt the beans against him, Adhikari alleged that the MP must have got the news and lost balance.
“He (Banerjee) must be suffering from sodium-potassium imbalance. Let him go to New York (for treatment); we will give the necessary NOC (no objection certificate),” the chief minister said when asked about the Diamond Harbour MP’s comment.
Adhikari was speaking at the BJP office in Salt Lake here before a ‘Janata Darbar’ (people’s court) held by him to hear the grievances of the public.
Sodium-potassium imbalance occurs when levels of these critical minerals in a person’s body fall outside their normal ranges, disrupting fluid balance and heart rhythm.
Speaking to reporters on Thursday, Banerjee, who is the nephew of former chief minister Mamata Banerjee, had cautioned police officers against allegedly framing party workers in “false cases to please the CM”.
Noting that he would remember the names of the police officers who have been “acting at Adhikari’s behest”, Banerjee had said, “Those who are trying to please the chief minister and secure good postings would face the consequences after a change in government”.
The Diamond Harbour MP had demanded the arrest of members of the Chorbagan Durga Puja committee over the deaths of 19 people in a stampede, and asked the chief minister to follow “rajdharma instead of targeting political opponents”.
