Panaji, Oct 26 Goa BJP president Damodar Naik on Monday accused the Congress of being jealous of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s work ethic.

He also described Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge as a “frustrated soul” following the latter’s remarks against the Prime Minister.

Addressing a press conference in Panaji, Naik said the Congress is losing its relevance in Goa and across the country.

“The Congress is frustrated and is resorting to such statements against Modi out of jealousy over his work. The Congress is finished in Goa and is also vanishing across the country. They are frustrated and jealous of Modi, who works for more than 14 hours a day,” Naik said.

Condemning Kharge’s remarks, the Goa BJP chief said the Congress was no stranger to making statements against Modi.

“Kharge is a frustrated soul. He has no control over what he speaks,” Naik said.

He added that such remarks by Congress leaders often resulted in BJP workers mobilising in large numbers against the opposition party.

Such statements ultimately benefit the BJP politically, Naik added.

Naik also said BJP national president Nitin Nabin would arrive in Goa on Tuesday for a two-day visit. During the visit, the party’s state executive committee will meet at the BJP headquarters, where several political and organisational resolutions are expected to be adopted, he said.
