Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 27 BJP legislature party leader B B Gopakumar on Tuesday alleged that his party members were being denied an opportunity to speak in the Keralam Assembly on alleged irregularities in the state Public Service Commission (PSC).
Gopakumar’s remarks came hours after Speaker Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan disallowed an adjournment motion moved by him, citing the lack of support from at least 15 members.
The BJP, which has three members in the House, had sought a discussion on the alleged irregularities in the functioning of the PSC.
In a statement, Gopakumar accused the UDF leadership of being unwilling to discuss the issue either inside or outside the Assembly and termed the denial of an opportunity to BJP members to speak as undemocratic.
He said 188 complaints related to the PSC had been referred to the Crime Branch for investigation, as stated by the Chief Minister recently.
The allegations raised serious questions about the credibility of the commission, he said, alleging that attempts had been made to favour certain individuals in recruitment lists by sidelining deserving candidates.
Gopakumar demanded an impartial investigation into the alleged irregularities and action against those found guilty.
He also questioned the UDF’s stand on alleged irregularities reported during the last decade and urged the government to address the concerns of job aspirants.
Accusing both the LDF and UDF of betraying young job seekers, he said the BJP would continue to fight against alleged denial of justice to candidates and claimed that the struggle could pave the way for a third political alternative in Keralam.
