Raiganj (WB), Oct 29 West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari on Thursday said that “no one will be worse than me” if cow slaughter happens in the state, and vowed to deport infiltrators to Bangladesh while ensuring citizenship for Hindu refugees under the amended citizenship law.
Addressing a public event in Uttar Dinajpur district’s Raiganj, he said no one should harm cows, which are sacred to Hindus.
“No one should raise a hand against ‘Gau Mata’. No one should harm ‘Gau Mata’. I am making this clear. If it happens, no one will be worse than me,” the chief minister said.
Adhikari also targeted “separatist groups”, saying, “Those raising slogans such as ‘Kashmir Mange Azaadi’ should not be allowed to be active in border areas. Tukde-tukde gangs and cockroaches should not be able to expand their ground.”
Reiterating his government’s commitment to granting citizenship to Hindu refugees under the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), the chief minister said he would ensure that not a single refugee of the faith was sent to jail, and urged those who had not applied for citizenship to do so immediately.
“I will ensure that not a single Hindu refugee lands up in jail here and legal steps must be initiated immediately to free them and grant citizenship under the CAA,” he said while addressing the crowd in the district that borders Bangladesh.
Adhikari also vowed to send alleged infiltrators back to Bangladesh, saying they would first be placed in holding stations before being deported. “We will throw back infiltrators to Bangladesh; put them at holding stations and then send them back.”
Emphasising his government’s commitment towards ensuring security in the state’s border areas, the chief minister said, “There should not be any illegal madrassas in these border areas so that no anti-national activities take place.
