New Delhi, Oct 28 JD(U) national working president Sanjay Kumar Jha on Wednesday took a swipe at the Congress over its performance in the MLC elections, claiming that the party failed to win any of the 28 seats it contested, including seats held by its sitting members in Bihar and Karnataka.

He also said the results are significant as the elections were conducted through ballot papers, which the Congress has been advocating.

In a post on X, Jha criticised Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over his November 1 ‘Dilli Chalo’ call, saying the party’s electoral performance presents a contrasting picture.

“It’s a comedy even comedians would struggle to script! The Congress’s misery seems inversely proportional to the arrogance of its heir who, despite repeated electoral setbacks, remains remarkably detached from reality,” he said.

He said the party’s failure to win any of the 28 seats raises questions about its organisational strength and regional influence.

“As Rahul Gandhi beats the drum for his November 1 Dilli Chalo call, the MLC results deliver a rather different message: 28 seats contested, zero wins for Congress, including the loss of seats held by sitting members in Bihar and Karnataka,” he said.

Referring to the Congress’s advocacy of ballot papers, Jha said, “While MLC elections are not the sole measure of a party’s political standing, a complete shutout across 28 seats, and that too in an election held through ballot papers which the party has so strongly advocated for, exposes serious organisational weaknesses and raises uncomfortable questions about Congress’s regional influence.”

Taking a dig at Gandhi’s ‘Dilli Chalo’ call, Jha said the electoral message instead was to leave Bengaluru, Patna, Lucknow and Mumbai.

“Come to Delhi? The electoral message reads: Leave Bengaluru, Patna, Lucknow and Mumbai! At some point, political theatre must give way to a reality check,” he said.
