Lucknow, Oct 28 Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday welcomed the Centre’s decision to raise Dearness Allowance (DA) for central government employees and Dearness Relief (DR) for pensioners by 3 per cent, calling it a Diwali gift for them.
In a post on X, Adityanath thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the decision, which will benefit around 48.54 lakh central government employees and 68.71 lakh pensioners, with effect from July 1, 2026.
The Union Cabinet, chaired by Modi, approved the additional instalment of DA and DR earlier on Wednesday. The increase is over the existing rates of 60 per cent of basic pay and pension, respectively, to compensate for the impact of price rise.
Adityanath also welcomed the Cabinet’s approval of the Rs 10,000-crore Container Manufacturing Promotion Scheme, saying it would strengthen the vision of an ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ (self-reliant India).
In his post, Yogi said the scheme, approved for implementation until the financial year 2039-40, would help develop a world-class container manufacturing ecosystem in India, reduce dependence on imports and strengthen supply chains.
He said the initiative would help India emerge as a major global hub for container manufacturing and exports, while supporting industrial growth, employment generation and economic empowerment.
Adityanath expressed gratitude to the prime minister for the decisions, describing them as steps aimed at protecting employees’ economic interests and strengthening the country’s industrial capacity.
