New Delhi, Nov 3 Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday lauded the CRPF, the country’s lead internal security force, for recording no casualties in 12 consecutive months – the first time in 47 years.

“A zero speaks volumes,” he said in a post on X.

The prime minister’s social media post carried a graphic of zero along with three personnel of the Central Reserve Police Force pointing guns towards three different directions.

“Zero CRPF casualties in 12 consecutive months. For the first time in 47 years,” Modi said.

The CRPF has said the achievement has been made despite “sustained” and “intensified” operations across various combat theatres where the paramilitary force is deployed.

A senior CRPF officer said that it was “such a satisfying development”.

The CRPF, with about 3.25 lakh personnel, is the mainstay for various internal security duties across the country including three main theatres: anti-Naxal tasks, anti-terrorist operations in Jammu and Kashmir and counter-insurgency duties in the northeastern states.

“The CRPF troops have been leading internal security duties across many violent regions of the country, which unfortunately resulted in high fatal casualty figures over the last many years.

“Not losing even a single jawan or officer in operations reflects the improving security situation and the force learning from its mistakes,” the officer said.

On Sunday, CRPF Director General G P Singh said the development was “specially significant” as the force continues to be deployed and engaged “intensely” in all the major operational theatres.

“A significant milestone in the history of CRPF – 12 consecutive months (One Year) have passed without any operational fatality in the force, the last operational fatality in the force being on Oct 30th 2025. This has happened after 47 Years (last such period ended in January 1979),” Singh had said on X.

Officials said nine CRPF personnel were killed during operational tasks in 2025 (till Oct 30).

The force was raised in 1939 under British rule. It was renamed CRPF two years after Independence in 1949. According to official data, 2,270 of its jawans and officers have laid down their lives in the line of duty till now.
