Patna, Nov 3 The police on Tuesday said they have received a complaint from the wife of an IPS officer, who has accused her husband and in-laws of harassment.

The matter is being investigated, though no FIR has been registered so far on the complaint lodged at Mahila Police Station late Monday night by Pooja Singh, whose husband Bhanu Pratap Singh is the Superintendent of Police of Khagaria district.

Sachivalaya SDPO-1 Anu Kumari said, “We have received the complaint, but no FIR has been lodged so far. The matter is under investigation.”

Pooja Singh had staged a dharna outside the Chief Minister’s residence here a couple of days ago. She alleged that her husband was not allowing her to speak to their six-year-old daughter.

She claimed that she married Bhanu Pratap Singh, a 2021-batch IPS officer, in 2016 when he was an unemployed civil service aspirant.

“I don’t want a divorce. It is my wish to make a fresh start with my husband and our daughter. If he is amenable to reason, I am willing to withdraw my police complaint,” she told reporters.

Bhanu Pratap Singh was not available for comment.
