Bareilly (UP), Nov 3 Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare J P Nadda on Tuesday said the opposition is trying to spread confusion by consistently raising questions about the Election Commission and blaming EVMs for their electoral defeats.
The former BJP national president was in Bareilly to participate in the ‘Loktantra Bachao, Arajakta Hatao’ march.
“The opposition’s only function is to spread confusion. The opposition consistently raises questions about the Election Commission and, after losing elections, blames its defeat on EVMs,” he said.
He accused the opposition of double standards on democracy.
Attacking Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, Nadda said Gandhi is citing democracy today, but the country had witnessed the Emergency under a Congress regime.
During the Emergency, the voices of those who spoke for democratic rights were not even heard, Nadda said, adding that he had gone to jail several times during the Congress rule.
