New Delhi, Nov 2 Senior Congress leader P Chidambaram on Monday hit back at BJP chief Nitin Nabin for his “3 crore infiltrators” claim and posed five questions to him, asking who the three crore infiltrators are that he mentioned and whether the Centre and the state governments have identified them.
Rebutting the opposition’s charge about 13 crore vote names being cut, Nabin had said, “Rahul Gandhi, our party workers can give you an account of every vote, from street to parliament.”
Nabin said that among the deletions, 2.5 crore voters were those who had died and 6 crore had shifted to another place.
“Three crore are ‘ghuspaithiya’ (infiltrators). People know they (opposition) are fighting to save these ‘ghuspaithiyas’. Till BJP and NDA workers are there, we will drive out these ‘ghuspaithiyas’ from the country,” the BJP chief had said.
Hitting back, Chidambaram posed five questions to the BJP chief, asking who the 3 crore infiltrators are he has spoken about on Sunday and whether the central government and the state governments have identified them.
“You said the people of Haryana know who the infiltrators are. If the people know, the government of Haryana must also know. Why doesn’t the state government publish their names and take action against them?” the Congress leader said in a post on X.
Chidambaram asserted that no one is protecting the infiltrators; they should be identified and action be taken against them according to law.
If there are 3 crore infiltrators, why did you delete 13.3 crore names, except the dead, he asked.
“What about the persons (91-93%), among the deleted, who won their Appeals in West Bengal? Are they infiltrators too?” Chidambaram said, tagging Nabin.
Chidambaram’s remarks come amid the “vote chori” (vote theft) row, with the opposition claiming that the Election Commission had wrongfully deleted 13.3 crore names from the voters list during special intensive revision of electoral rolls and the BJP alleging that the process was done to remove illegitimate voters.
