Hyderabad, Nov 2 : Union Home Minister Amit Shah has challenged Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to debate the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Parliament. He said the central government is ready to convene a special session of Parliament to discuss the issue.

Speaking at the BJP’s ‘Save Democracy, Remove Anarchy’ padayatra in Hyderabad on Monday, November 2, Shah strongly criticised the INDIA bloc’s ‘vote chori’ allegations against the BJP and the Election Commission.

Shah dismissed the INDIA bloc’s rally held in Delhi on Sunday, describing it as a “Save Infiltrators” rally. He questioned the Congress’s allegations against Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), asking how the party had formed governments in states such as Telangana if the machines were unreliable.

Addressing Rahul Gandhi, Shah accused the Congress leader of disrupting parliamentary proceedings while raising concerns about democracy and the Constitution.

“Rahul Gandhi holds the Constitution in his hands but does not respect it. He does not allow Parliament to function. Whether it is EVMs, SIR or infiltrators, I challenge him from Hyderabad. We are ready to convene a special session of Parliament. Let us debate these issues,” Shah said.

He also asserted that the government would remove infiltrators from electoral rolls.

His remarks come amid an ongoing political confrontation between the BJP and the INDIA bloc over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, allegations of vote theft and the issue of illegal immigrants.
