Amaravati, Nov 2: YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) president and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has strongly criticised the State Election Commission (SEC) over alleged irregularities during the municipal elections held across Andhra Pradesh on November 1, 2026. In a post on X, Jagan accused the election body of failing to ensure free and fair elections and alleged that it was acting in favour of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.

Jagan questioned the SEC’s decision to order repolling in only four polling booths in Pulivendula, despite allegations of widespread irregularities and attacks on YSRCP polling agents.

YS Jagan Alleges Irregularities in 70 Pulivendula Polling Booths

According to Jagan, irregularities were reported in 70 out of the 80 polling booths in Pulivendula. He alleged that YSRCP polling agents were prevented from entering polling stations, while some agents were forcibly removed from the booths.

Jagan further claimed that TDP supporters from outside the area attacked YSRCP agents and disrupted the polling process with the alleged support of the police and election officials.

He also alleged that voters’ slips were snatched, polling booths were captured, and rigging took place at several locations. Jagan said video evidence of these incidents was available.

According to him, YSRCP polling agents submitted complaints to election officials and staged protests in his presence, showing their appointment forms as proof of their authorisation.

Jagan Questions SEC’s Decision on Repolling

Jagan questioned why the State Election Commission ordered repolling in only four booths when allegations of irregularities had been raised in 70 of Pulivendula’s 80 polling booths.

He described the SEC’s decision as an inadequate response and questioned whether the municipal elections could be considered free and fair under such circumstances.

The former Chief Minister also raised concerns about the protection of voters’ rights, stating that the Election Commission must act independently and take firm action against electoral malpractice.

He questioned how public confidence in the electoral system could be maintained if allegations against the ruling party were not properly investigated.

YSRCP Alleges Poll Irregularities Across Andhra Pradesh

Jagan claimed that the alleged irregularities were not limited to Pulivendula but were reported in several parts of Andhra Pradesh.

He referred to incidents in major cities, including Kadapa, Anantapur, Tirupati, Kurnool, Chittoor, Ongole, Guntur, Nellore, Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada.

He also cited several municipalities and towns, including Macherla, Chilakaluripet, Vinukonda, Jammalamadugu, Nandyal, Chimakurthy, Giddalur, Yemmiganur, Sullurpeta, Palasa, Dhone, Naidupeta, Nandigama, Jaggayyapeta, Kuppam, Puttur and Parvathipuram.

According to Jagan, these incidents raise serious concerns about the conduct of the municipal elections and the need for an impartial investigation into the complaints.

YSRCP to Pursue Legal Action Over Election Allegations

Jagan said the YSRCP would pursue legal action to challenge the alleged election irregularities. He added that the party would submit all available evidence to the courts and seek justice through the legal process.

He expressed confidence that justice would ultimately prevail, even if the legal process took time.

The allegations have raised questions about the State Election Commission’s handling of complaints during the municipal polls.
