Thane, Nov 1 Thane Police Commissioner Ashutosh Dumbare on Sunday said the investigation in the Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Pradeep Purnekar murder case is progressing properly.
He spoke to reporters after the son of the slain Sena (UBT) leader met Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and sought a speedy probe and justice for the bereaved family.
Amid concerns and allegations raised by the Purnekar family regarding the pace and direction of the probe, the Thane Police Commissioner said the inquiry is progressing properly.
“All necessary investigative procedures are being followed, and various aspects are being actively looked into,” he added.
The Shiv Sena (UBT) Manpada ward chief was killed at his office on September 29. Five people have been arrested in the case.
His son Ram Purnekar said he met Fadnavis when the chief minister came to Thane to take part in a rally.
“The meeting took place at the residence of MLC Niranjan Davkhare. I presented all the proof I had to the CM. I sought justice in the case. Only the Chief Minister can give my family justice,” Ram Purnekar told reporters.
Fadnavis participated in the BJP’s ‘save democracy, end anarchy’ rally.
