Mirzapur (UP), Oct 31 Union Minister and Apna Dal (Sonelal) president Anupriya Patel on Saturday accused the Opposition of attempting to destabilise the country by creating unrest and chaos, and urged its leaders to draw lessons from the ideals of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
Paying tributes to Sardar Patel on his 151st birth anniversary, Anupriya Patel said his contribution to the unity and integrity of the country would always be remembered.
She said the birth anniversary is observed as National Unity Day (Rashtriya Ekta Diwas), adding that Apna Dal (S) and its NDA allies also paid tribute to the leader.
Responding to a question about the Opposition’s protest in the Lok Sabha, led by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, against the Election Commission and its demand for the removal of the Chief Election Commissioner, Patel said the Constitution prescribed a specific procedure for their removal, involving impeachment.
She alleged that the Congress, despite being aware of constitutional procedures, was attempting to create an atmosphere of chaos in the country.
Patel advised Opposition leaders to engage with the public and understand their sentiments and expectations if they genuinely wished to work for the nation.
She also asserted that people reposed their trust in the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
