Unnao (UP), Oct 28 Two labourers were killed and another person was injured on Wednesday after a portion of an under-construction house collapsed, police said.
The incident took place around 1.45 pm at Royal City Plating in the Ghonghi Rautapur gram panchayat area under Gangaghat police station area, they said.
Sadar Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Rajesh Vishwakarma said the shuttering of the basement of a house owned by Kishan Gupta, a resident of Mangala Vihar in Kanpur, was being removed when the slab and the staircase suddenly collapsed.
The two labourers who died were identified as Jai Prakash Kori (35), a resident of Patel Nagar in Kanpur’s Rama Devi area, and Sohan (32), a resident of Fatehpur district.
Sohan’s father, Ramkripal, was injured in the incident and is undergoing treatment, the SDM said.
Following the incident, Vishwakarma and Additional SP City Ayush Srivastava reached the spot and supervised the rescue operation.
The two labourers, who died, were trapped under the debris and were pulled out after iron rods were cut and the concrete slab was broken, officials said.
The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination, they added.
