Bengaluru, Oct 25 : Karnataka Chief Minister D K Shivakumar has warned that the state government will take appropriate action against private companies if they are found deliberately denying job opportunities to Kannadigas, particularly in Bengaluru’s IT sector.

In a post on social media platform X on Sunday, October 25, Shivakumar said the government had taken complaints about local people being overlooked in recruitment seriously. He stressed that the rights, dignity and employment opportunities of Kannadigas would not be compromised.

The Chief Minister expressed concern over reports that native Kannada speakers were being denied employment opportunities in Bengaluru-based IT companies. He said the government would examine such concerns and act against private institutions if deliberate discrimination against Kannadigas was established.

Shivakumar also highlighted Bengaluru’s global reputation as India’s technology capital, adding that Karnataka was proud of the talent, skills and capabilities of its people.

He reiterated that the state government remained committed to protecting the interests of Kannadigas and ensuring that their employment concerns were addressed.

The statement comes amid concerns over job opportunities for local residents in Karnataka’s private sector, particularly in the technology industry. The government has indicated that it will take appropriate steps if companies are found deliberately sidelining local candidates.
