Kolkata, Oct 20 West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari on Tuesday accused the previous Trinamool Congress regime of committing atrocities on ‘Sanatani’ Hindus.
Inaugurating a ‘Ravan Dahan’ event in Salt Lake area, he alleged that ‘Sanatani’ Hindus “had to go to court” to seek permission for programmes during the tenure of the previous government.
“The earlier regime used to suppress Hindus and committed atrocities on them. Maa Durga vanquished them,” the CM asserted.
“Following the vision and guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, we will fight against elements working against the country,” Adhikari said.
Adhikari also accused the TMC of allowing infiltrators to set up base in West Bengal, and said the BJP government ensured that they leave the country.
The chief minister described West Bengal as the land of Goddess Kali, and said the people of the state have been inspired by the tales of the Ramayana for ages.
“The number of Durga Pujas in the state also increased to 58,000 this year compared to 45,000 last year,” he added.
