Hyderabad, Oct 25 : Telangana BJP president N Ramchander Rao has criticised Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy for planning to attend a Congress rally in Delhi on November 1, accusing him of neglecting the state’s rainfall deficit crisis and farmers’ problems.

The Congress rally, scheduled to take place at Ramlila Maidan in Delhi, is being organised to protest against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. Rao questioned the Chief Minister’s decision to attend the event at a time when Telangana is facing water shortages and agricultural distress linked to the El Niño phenomenon.

According to Rao, Revanth Reddy plans to travel to Delhi with around 15,000 Congress leaders and party workers from Telangana in a special train. He compared the Chief Minister’s decision to the phrase “Nero fiddling while Rome burnt”, alleging that the state government was ignoring urgent public concerns.

Speaking to PTI Videos, Rao said people were suffering due to water shortages, while farmers were struggling as their crops dried up. He argued that the Chief Minister should focus on addressing the state’s immediate problems instead of participating in a protest over an issue he claimed was unrelated to Telangana’s needs.

Rao also criticised the Congress rally, alleging that it was intended to spread misinformation and create social divisions. These remarks reflect the BJP leader’s criticism of the Congress campaign against the SIR exercise.

Telangana BJP Plans Rallies Against Congress Over SIR

Earlier, Ramchander Rao announced that the BJP would organise rallies and padayatras across Telangana to counter what he described as the Congress’s false narrative on the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls.

The BJP plans to conduct these programmes in five cities and towns across the state. The campaign will focus on the theme “Save Democracy – Fight Against Anarchy”, according to Rao.

He also accused the Congress of attempting to provoke the country’s youth through its campaign against SIR.

The political exchange comes amid a growing debate over electoral roll revision and the Telangana government’s response to concerns over water availability, crop losses and farmers’ welfare.
