Beed, Oct 25 A 35-year-old man was killed and another person was seriously injured after their car crashed into a pole near Kasari bridge in Ashti tehsil in Beed on Sunday, a police official said.

Shahbaz Shabnur Syed (35), a resident of Bhingar in Ahilyanagar district, and Swastik Ganesh Salve (23) were travelling from Jamkhed towards Ahilyanagar in a car when the accident took place, he said.

“The driver lost control of the vehicle, possibly due to the incomplete roadwork and difficulty in assessing the route, resulting in the car crashing into a pole. Syed died on the spot, while Salve was shifted to Ahilyanagar for further treatment after receiving preliminary medical care,” he said.

The impact of the collision also broke a pole carrying a main electricity line, bringing live wires down on the road and creating an additional hazard for motorists, residents said.

The wires were removed from the spot by a team from the electricity department.

Residents questioned the administration’s apparent failure to address the hazards, asking how many more lives must be lost before corrective measures are taken.
