Ahmedabad, Oct 20 Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi held a series of high-level meetings with leading global companies, including Ultrafabrics, Kaneka, Nippon Steel, and Itochu Corporation in Tokyo on Tuesday.

The meetings were held as part of efforts to attract international investments ahead of the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit (VGGS).

Sanghavi is on a visit to Japan ahead of VGGS to be organised in January 2027.

“Met Eiji Hashimoto, Chairman of Nippon Steel, and his team in Tokyo early this morning, along with the Gujarat delegation. We discussed bringing Nippon Steel’s investment in precision steel manufacturing to Gujarat,” Sanghavi said in a post on X.

He held one-to-one meetings with Kaneka Corporation and ITOCHU Corporation in Tokyo to discuss potential areas of collaboration and explore new avenues for industrial growth in Gujarat.

The interactions reflect Gujarat’s continued efforts to build meaningful global partnerships and create new opportunities through Vibrant Gujarat, it added.

Sanghavi explored avenues for collaboration with Ultra Fabrics in Tokyo, focusing on new possibilities for investment and industrial growth in Gujarat under the Vibrant Gujarat initiative.

The delegation held productive discussions with Ultrafabrics Holdings on investment opportunities in synthetic leather and related industries, and with Isao Otsu, President of Kaneka Corporation, on strengthening Gujarat’s partnerships in chemicals and life sciences.

Meetings with Itochu Corporation explored collaboration in green energy and global trade, while discussions with Hireso focused on cloud computing and Global Capability Centres (GCCs), according to an official release.

Sanghavi held bilateral discussions with Shizuoka Governor Yasutomo Suzuki after travelling to Shizuoka by bullet train.

“Had a productive interaction with Yasutomo Suzuki, Governor of Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan, to explore avenues for deeper engagement between Gujarat and Shizuoka. Such exchanges open new doors for collaboration and strengthen the foundation of India-Japan relations,” Sanghavi wrote on X.

At the Shizuoka Prefectural Government Building, he was scheduled to hold discussions focusing on industrial development, advanced technology and opportunities for joint cooperation between Gujarat and Shizuoka.

He also invited Suzuki to participate in the VGGS, the release added.

During the evening session, the Deputy Chief Minister engaged with the textile sector and leading industrial representatives.

“Tokyo hosted an extended roundtable bringing together representatives from over 35 textile companies to explore Gujaratâs thriving textile ecosystem, investment opportunities and the scope for deeper industry partnerships between Japan and Gujarat.

“Engaged with Yazaki to discuss potential avenues for industrial collaboration and business expansion, further strengthening Gujaratâs engagement with Japanâs dynamic manufacturing ecosystem,” he wrote in another post on X.

At the conclusion of the day’s engagements, a special dinner will be hosted in honour of Harsh Sanghavi and the accompanying delegation at India House, the official residence of the Ambassador of India to Japan, the release noted.
