New Delhi, Oct 15 Delhi Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa on Thursday met students from various Delhi University colleges and said the city’s Gen Z can play a major role in the fight against pollution.
In a post on X, Sirsa said the students came forward with a shared resolve to combat pollution and contribute ideas for improving air quality in Delhi.
“Fighting Delhi’s pollution needs all of us, and our Gen Z can play a big role in making that happen,” he wrote.
The minister said it was encouraging to see the students’ enthusiasm and fresh ideas, adding that they were ready to become “Green Delhi Warriors” and work alongside the Delhi government to bring change on the ground.
“We will extend every possible support to help turn their ideas into action,” Sirsa said.
He said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, the government wants Delhi’s youth to be active partners in tackling pollution rather than remaining “just voices in the conversation”.
“When Gen Z steps up, we move closer to a cleaner, greener Delhi,” the minister added.
His remarks came days after the Integrated Command and Control Centre and 13 air quality monitoring stations of the Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) were inaugurated to strengthen real-time pollution surveillance and response in the national capital.
