New Delhi, Oct 15 The Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) on Thursday organised a programme to raise awareness about the health, nutrition, safety and legal rights of female workers.

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and National Commission for Women Chairperson Vijaya Kishore Rahatkar distributed nutrition kits to the workers, a statement said.

At the programme, ‘Karmayogini: Nutrition for Strength, Awareness for Progress’, the leaders interacted with the workers and highlighted the need for a balanced diet, regular health check-ups, safe working conditions and awareness of legal rights.

DDCW chairperson Lata Gupta said women workers make a significant contribution to Delhi’s development and that ensuring their health, safety and well-being was a collective responsibility.

The programme encouraged women workers to seek information about government welfare schemes and support services available to them.

The Delhi government has launched such initiatives as Palna Ghars, Atal Canteens, the Delhi Lakshmi Yojana and Pink Saheli Cards to support women and their families, the statement said.
