New Delhi, Oct 23 With the claims and objections period under SIR in Delhi nearing the October 30 deadline, special camps will be held at all 14,947 polling stations in the capital on October 25 to facilitate enrolment of voters left out of the draft rolls, officials said on Friday.

This comes amid efforts to include voters missing from the draft electoral roll into the final list.

Around 29.5 lakh of over 33 lakh cases involving “unmapped” electors and “logical discrepancies” have been resolved or cleared for inclusion in the final list to be published after the completion of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls, the office of the Delhi Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) said in a statement.

Sunday’s camps will be the last in a series of special enrolment drives conducted during the claims period, which began on August 31. Camps were held at all 14,947 polling stations on six Sundays between September 20 and October 18.

Separate drives were organised at educational institutions to enrol voters aged 18 to 25, while around 200 night shelters and similar locations were covered to reach homeless people, transgender persons and sex workers.

Special camps were also held in areas where settlements were recently demolished, including Bela Estate, Jailor Wala Bagh, Narela, Bawana, Mangol Puri and Wazirpur Industrial Area, to help the affected residents access electoral services.

A total of 2,50,754 Form 6 applications seeking fresh enrolment have been received since the claims period began, in addition to 2,12,400 applications received before the draft roll was published, the CEO’s office said.

The revision involved door-to-door visits by booth level officers (BLOs), who are collecting supporting documents from electors flagged for logical discrepancies or whose details could not be mapped to the previous electoral roll.

BLOs are also visiting localities to identify eligible voters whose names featured in the pre-SIR roll but are missing from the draft list, and assisting them in filing Form 6.

The claims and objections period began after the publication of the draft electoral roll. Electors can submit claims for inclusion or raise objections until October 30 and election officials will dispose of the applications by November 30.

Those requiring assistance with enrolment can contact the helpline number, 1950, or visit help desks at district election offices and offices of Electoral Registration Officers, the statement said.
