Shimla, Oct 20 The BJP’s Himachal Pradesh In-charge and Mathura MLA Shrikant Sharma on Tuesday hit out at the Congress, saying that the party is rattled by the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) and its real political agenda has been exposed.
Sharma, in a press statement issued here, said the Congress claims to defend the Constitution and democracy, but its political conduct directly or indirectly benefits anti-national forces.
He said that opposition leaders carry copies of the Constitution and the national flag while pursuing policies that, in his view, undermine national interests.
He said that the verification process had identified entries involving individuals whose addresses or places of residence could not be established. He said that removing fraudulent or ineligible entries through due process will strengthen electoral transparency.
“Every genuine voter must be protected, but fraudulent entries have no place in a democratic electoral system,” he added.
Sharma also criticised the AAP Government in Punjab, alleging that it had failed to take sufficiently effective action against drug trafficking and organised criminal networks. He demanded stronger measures against the drug mafia.
He further alleged that the opposition had shifted its political narrative from questioning the Election Commission to raising issues concerning regime change, which has exposed their underlying political intentions.
