Visakhapatnam, Oct 30 A minor fire broke out during welding work on an under-construction conveyor belt structure at Visakhapatnam Port on Friday and was immediately brought under control, a police official said.
Sparks from the welding work fell on a plastic casing near a junction of the conveyor belt structure, setting it alight, police said.
“It was a minor fire that broke out while welding work was under way. Sparks fell on a plastic casing near a junction of the conveyor belt structure, triggering the blaze. It was immediately brought under control, and there was no major damage,” the official told PTI.
The official clarified that the conveyor belt itself had not yet been installed and was not operational. Only its supporting structure was under construction, the official added.
