Gurugram, Oct 29 Two women in Gurugram have alleged that they were chased through multiple lanes by a man and a woman in a Scorpio after refusing their advances and eventually took refuge inside a PG as the vehicle remained parked outside for at least 30 minutes.
A senior police officer said action would be taken based on the facts once a complaint was received. Efforts were being made to contact the victim.
The incident took place near Tulip Chowk, with one of the women recounting her ordeal on X and raising concerns over the lack of streetlights and police patrolling in the area. The Gurugram Police responded to her post, asking her to share her contact number so that necessary action could be initiated.
The woman, around 25 years old, said she and her roommate had stepped out for a walk after dinner on Tuesday night but returned terrified and were unable to sleep until 6 am.
In her post, she said they left their PG around 8.45 pm, walked through a market and reached a popular mall in Gurugram and sat there for some time to enjoy the weather before deciding to return to their accommodation around 10.10 pm.
They were walking back when a Scorpio stopped beside them, she said.
A woman in her mid-20s and a man aged around 45 or older were in the vehicle. The woman asked them for directions, saying she was looking for a luxury PG and money was not an issue.
The victim said her roommate tried to help and even shared a broker’s contact number, believing they were assisting someone looking for accommodation.
However, the man soon began asking them personal questions, offering to arrange jobs and give them money, and dropping the names of politicians. While her roommate continued speaking to the woman about PG accommodation, the man asked the victim to come closer. She maintained her distance as she began feeling uncomfortable.
“He noticed and said something like, ‘Bahut chalak ho. Door khadi ho. Lag raha hai main kuch kar dunga’ (You are very clever. You are standing far away. It seems I will do something),” she recounted.
By then, most of the nearby shops had shut, she added. The man took out two Rs 500 notes and offered them as a “Diwali gift”, which the two women refused.
Suddenly, the woman in the Scorpio began vomiting. The man asked the two women to stay with her while he went to get water.
A person was walking nearby, and the victim asked him to fetch water. He brought it, and she paid him Rs 30. The accused man allegedly saw this and began abusing the passerby before forcibly putting Rs 500 into the women’s pockets despite their repeated refusals.
The two women then reached near Tulip Society and waited for around 15 minutes, hoping the man and woman had left. When they resumed walking, however, the same Scorpio suddenly appeared from behind, the victim said.
The women ran towards food stalls near Avenue 69, but the occupants of the vehicle stopped near the stalls. The duo managed to escape through a back entrance, but the car occupants spotted them entering the lane and followed them again.
The victim ran into a PG, while her roommate could not get inside as quickly. Terrified for her friend, she asked two or three men staying at the accommodation to help bring her inside. However, the Scorpio remained parked outside the PG for at least 30 minutes, she alleged.
