Haridwar, Oct 29 Uttarakhand Governor Dhal Singh Bisen on Thursday said the Indian tradition of knowledge goes beyond intellectual advancement, seeking to refine an individual’s character and conduct while fostering social responsibility.
Inaugurating the three-day 52nd All India Oriental Conference at Patanjali University in Haridwar, Bisen said the core objective of India’s knowledge tradition is to cultivate discernment in individuals, promote harmony in society and encourage a benevolent outlook towards all creation.
He said the study of Orientalism is not confined to understanding the past but also offers an opportunity to explore the evolution of Indian civilisation, the interaction between diverse ideologies and the intellectual history of human society.
Bisen urged young researchers to study the original texts of ancient scriptures, examine their historical backgrounds and explore the philosophical ideas they contain.
He emphasised that authenticity of sources, transparency in findings and intellectual honesty must be accorded the highest priority in research.
