Leh/Jammu, Oct 27 The Fire & Fury Corps of the Indian Army conducted a two-day basic life support training programme for village heads, panchayat representatives and school children in Drass.
The initiative aimed to enhance community preparedness and strengthen civil defence capabilities by equipping participants with essential life-saving skills, officials said.
A total of 35 participants, including 10 village heads and panchayat representatives and 25 schoolchildren, attended the two-day programme from October 26-27, they added.
Medical officers and paramedical staff of the Fire & Fury Corps conducted the training through theoretical sessions and practical demonstrations, they said.
The programme covered key emergency response techniques, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), management of choking emergencies, bleeding control, trauma management and casualty evacuation procedures, they said.
Participants took part in hands-on demonstrations and practical exercises designed to build their confidence and ability to respond effectively to medical emergencies, they added.
The programme received an enthusiastic response from the local community and further strengthened the bond between the Indian Army and the residents of Drass.
The initiative is part of the Army’s broader civil defence preparedness efforts to raise public awareness, improve emergency response capabilities and promote community participation in disaster management, they said.
