Colombo, Oct 27 Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) will have a new constitution before the end of the year, interim committee chairman Eran Wickramaratne said here on Tuesday.
Wickramaratne said new legislation governing SLC’s administration would be in place by November.
“We think that process should be concluded in approximately a month from now. Certainly this year we will see the new constitution being (become) the law on Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC),” Wickramaratne told reporters here.
Asked if the delays in holding elections would pose problems with the ICC’s regular disbursement of funds, he said, “We have the support of the ICC in what we are doing, they can see that we are in a position of putting good governance in place.
“The methods have changed, but funds are coming,” he said, without elaborating.
He said his committee was focused on “not only on receiving funds, (but also) on how the funds are being spent.”
“We are focused on waste management to save every single rupee so that it could be put into schools, women’s and cricket in general.”
The interim committee was appointed in April following the resignation of the elected administration led by Shammi Silva.
The committee’s main focus was to formulate a new constitution with a new governance structure to eliminate vote-buying during elections.
