Hingoli, Oct 25 A man allegedly killed his 55-year-old uncle and aunt over a long-standing property dispute in Maharashtra’s Hingoli district on Sunday morning, police said.
According to the police, the accused, Devendra Chopde, was involved in frequent arguments with the couple over the ownership of a farm and the use of water from a shared well in Wadad village.
Some relatives had intervened to resolve their differences in the past, but tensions between the two families persisted.
Devendra confronted his uncle Trembak Chopde while the latter was working in his field in the morning and stabbed him multiple times with a knife, killing him on the spot. He then proceeded to Trembak’s house and fatally stabbed his aunt Mangalabai (49), who was alone at home, an official from Aundha police station said.
Upon receiving information about the double murder, senior police officers rushed to the crime scene and arrested the accused.
The bodies of the deceased were sent to the primary health centre at Jawala Bazar for a post-mortem examination, while Aundha police initiated further investigation.
