Jaipur, Oct 14 Rajasthan Police personnel will undergo a three-day training programme from Thursday on managing stress, handling difficult conversations and dealing empathetically with citizens.

Director General of Police Rajeev Kumar Sharma will inaugurate the “Positive Behaviour in Policing” workshop in Jaipur. Organised by an NGO, the programme will run from October 15 to 17.

“The training aims to bring positive changes in police personnel’s attitudes and behaviour and help create a more citizen-friendly environment at police stations,” a statement said.

The first day’s sessions will focus on self-awareness, professional identity, ethics and values, helping participants recognise their strengths and develop a positive approach to policing.

On the second day, participants will be trained to understand work-related stress, maintain composure in emotionally charged situations, set priorities and respond to citizens with empathy.

Role-playing and group exercises will help them practise handling difficult conversations, angry complainants and challenging situations, the statement said.

The final day’s sessions will focus on applying the learning through better communication, attentive listening and measures to build public trust.

The programme will use case studies, practical exercises, self-reflection and feedback from colleagues to help personnel improve their behaviour, decision-making and communication in their day-to-day work.

The workshop comes days after a video purportedly showing RPS officer Anju Yadav slapping an advocate during a parking dispute in Kishangarh triggered protests by lawyers.

Following the controversy, Yadav was removed from her post and put under Awaiting Posting Orders (APO) status on Monday.
