Jamshedpur, Sep 22 (PTI) A youth was found living in a house with the decomposed body of his mother in Jharkhand’s East Singhbhum district for three days, a police officer said on Tuesday.
A police team went to Kasida New Colony under Ghatsila police station on Monday night after residents of the area complained of a foul smell emanating from the house.
The police team found a woman identified as Uma Goswami lying dead in the house. She was rushed to the Ghatsila Sub-Divisional Hospital, where doctors declared her dead following examination.
Sub-Divisional Police Officer (Ghatsila) Vikash Anand Laguri said police are interrogating Goswami’s son, who was living with his mother.
Asked about the cause of death, the police officer said it would be known only after receiving the post-mortem report.
The autopsy of the victim was conducted at MGM Hospital, Jamshedpur on Tuesday.
A police officer said whether it is an accidental case or any untoward incident occurred three days ago can be confirmed only after receiving the post-mortem report.
“We are investigating the case from all possible angles,” the SDPO added.
Officer-in-Charge of Ghatsila police station Bhusan Kumar said the investigation was underway in this connection.
