Guwahati, Oct 16 Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya on Friday said the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has given a fresh impetus to indigenous defence manufacturing and technological self-reliance.

Addressing a programme here, Acharya also lauded the courage, valour and commitment of Air Force personnel in safeguarding the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The governor said that the indomitable spirit and supreme sacrifices of air warriors are a source of inspiration for every Indian.

Advanced fighter aircraft, sophisticated radar systems, drone technology and network-centric capabilities are transforming aerial operations, he said.

”The vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has given fresh impetus to indigenous defence manufacturing, innovation and technological self-reliance, strengthening India’s preparedness to meet emerging security challenges,” Acharya asserted.

He said the Air Force’s contribution extends beyond combat operations to humanitarian missions, including disaster relief, rescue operations and the delivery of essential supplies to remote and inaccessible areas.

The governor also underscored the growing role of women in the Air Force, describing their achievements as a powerful reflection of ‘Nari Shakti’.

Their courage, determination and professional excellence inspired a new generation of girls to dream big and pursue careers in challenging fields, he said.

Referring to ‘Operation Sindoor’, Acharya highlighted the importance of operational preparedness, the effective deployment of advanced technologies and seamless coordination among the three wings of the armed forces in addressing contemporary security challenges.

He said the strength of the armed forces lies not only in their combat capabilities but also in their discipline, coordination, restraint and commitment to national interests.

Acharya also urged students attending the programme to nurture scientific curiosity, develop technological skills and pursue innovation with determination, emphasising that the aspirations and capabilities of young people would play a vital role in shaping India’s future.

He also paid tributes to the brave personnel who laid down their lives in service to the nation.
