Lucknow, Oct 16 The Uttar Pradesh government has declared a public holiday across the state on October 19 on the occasion of Mahanavami, an official statement issued here on Friday said.
The government order was issued by Principal Secretary (General Administration) S V S Ranga Rao, amending the previously announced holiday schedule, the statement said.
The order directs divisional commissioners, district magistrates, the High Court, banks and concerned departments to ensure compliance.
October 20 had earlier been designated as a holiday for Mahanavami and Vijayadashami. With the latest decision, the state will observe public holidays on both October 19 and 20, the statement said.
