The neighbours, after noticing blood near the main gate of his two-storey house in , alerted the police around 11 am, they said.

According to Circle officer Omkar Dutt Tiwari, Manoj Vishwakarma was reportedly sitting near the staircase and having dinner late at night when he lost his balance and fell downstairs. His head struck the iron gate near the entrance, causing fatal injuries.

As nobody was present at home, he could not receive timely assistance, the officer said, adding that more than 25 sachets of liquor were found in a room on the first floor.

She also claimed that a property dispute involving Manoj’s wife could have been a factor. Police have not confirmed these allegations.

Manoj’s brother Anil said he reached the house after receiving information on Wednesday and found blood coming from the gate.

He entered the house using a ladder placed outside and found Manoj lying dead near the entrance. He added that Manoj consumed excessive alcohol.
